HIKING TRIPS

Trailhead location:  Iskwasum Campground found in Grass River Provincial Park via Hwy 39

Classification:  Beginner

Distance:  3.5 km round trip

Time:  2-3 hours

Summary of Expedition:  Karst Spring Self-guiding Trail, at Iskwasum campground, is the park's only designated trail. It follows the river upstream to a spring that is believed to drain Leak Lake and returns along a ridge that is the northern limit of the Manitoba Lowlands.

When you choose to be guided along this trail, biologist Adrianna Sawchyn will guide you through the different abiotic and biotic factors creating the multitude of ecosystems that you see on this trail  - from invertebrate sampling in the aquatic ecosystems to plant identification in the new growth and old growth jack pine ecosystems.  It’s a day full of exploration and knowledge when you choose to go with Adrianna!
